COMMUNITY GARAGE SALE
April 27, 2019
Spring Garage Sale permits on sale now at Tom Thumb, Sassy Flamingo, Roanoke Pharmacy and North Texas Charities!
You’ve heard it said that “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” There is no better way to demonstrate this concept than our Trophy Club Garage Sale! Not only do the many shoppers at theevent go away with things that they will “treasure,” but our sellers get rid of things they no longer needandhave a golden opportunity to capitalize on displaying their wares at this highly attended event!
The biggest treasure is that the Trophy Club Women’s Club is able to provide scholarships to deserving high school seniors at BNHS. At the March Board Meeting, we will vote on allocating Garage Sale proceeds from both Spring and Fall garage sales to scholarships. This will allow us to offer $10,000 or more in scholarships per year – truly an impressive accomplishment!
Our Garage Sale Chair, Ann Duffy, is working hard to prepare for our Spring Sale. Even if you don’t feel you have enough “trash”to hold a sale yourself, you can help us meet our mission of “Community” by talking up the sale to neighbors, volunteering to post signs for the week of April 20th, (or take them down on the afternoon of the 27th), tour the Town on the 27th to help collect day-of Permit Sales, or monitor our trucks toward the end of the sale to collect unsold items.
Ann can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org or 817-946-6829.
Please help us turn “trash” into “treasures” for our Trophy Club Byron Nelson High School students!
TCWC IN SERVICE TO OUR COMMUNITY
The Spirit of Giving
Your 2019 TCWC Service Committee - Luanne Oldham, Lynn Dillner, Sue Johnson, Martha Moore,
Carla Beckman, Ruth Germany, Kelley Class, Laurie Katan, Rhonda Labor and Sally Freeman.
The Service Projects Committee has met and established the following service project goals for 2019.
Spring - Pet Food/Supply Drive for Humane Society. Contact Sally Freeman via text 214-668-3150 for pick up from your location through the end of April. Thanks in advance for helping our “furry friends!”
Summer - Stuff the Backpacks for NISD. Many of us enjoyed providing the labor to organize and stuff the backpacks for needy students last August. This is a worthwhile 3-hour commitment for one or two days followed by a fun group lunch. More information coming in July and August.
Fall - Meal to Honor our Trophy Club First Responders. More details to come in later months. We hope to provide a wonderful home-cooked meal for our local police and fire departments in appreciation for their service to our community.
Winter - Year-End Collection to Assist the Roanoke Food Pantry with Holiday Meals. This year we will promote a “Charity Challenge” among the different activity groups within TCWC! We hope all groups (book clubs, yoga, dining, movie buffs, Bunco, wine lovers, etc.) will join the challenge when details are announced this summer. Watch your eblasts and Newsletters so you do not miss out!
We also want to promote a new program recently established by Metroport Meals on Wheels (MMOW). This new Friendly Visitor Program is designed as an opportunity for volunteers to share conversation, games and other interests with MMOW participants who have expressed an interest in having visitors. You are asked to schedule a weekly visit of at least one hour working around your schedule. For more information on this Program, please contact Shelly Ball at MMOW via email email@example.com or phone 214-914-9206.
Philanthropy is defined as “an active effort to promote human welfare."
The Trophy Club Women's Club has two ways in which members of our community may help raise funds simply by shopping.
The first opportunity is using your Tom Thumb Rewards Card. Simply go to the service desk and let them know you would like to enroll your Rewards Card to benefit Trophy Club Women's Club; our account code is #12069.
Once your Tom Thumb Rewards Card is enrolled, it entitles you to receive discounts on their products, but Tom Thumb will donate 1% of everything you purchase, each time you shop, to all your selected charities, including Trophy Club Women’s Club
AmazonSmile is a second opportunity to help raise funds for TCWC grants and scholarships! When you purchase eligible items from Smile.Amazon.com TCWC will receive 0.5% of purchase price!
Follow these steps to begin shopping and accumulating contributions for TCWC:
1. Go to Smile.Amazon.com
2. Select a charitable organization, TCWC
3. Begin shopping with your established Amazon account. No need to create another Amazon account as long as you enter via Smile.Amazon.com.
4. Eligible purchases will say 'Eligible for AmazonSmile donation' under product description.
